Question for written answer to the Commission on the monitoring of EU funding to NGOs linked to terrorist organisations

In 2017, the Commission granted EUR 699 236 to five Palestinian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and a Spanish group for a project entitled ‘Strengthening Community Resilience and Social Cohesion in East Jerusalem on both Sides of the Separation Wall.’ At least four of these NGOs allegedly have ties to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), designated as a terrorist entity in the EU, US, Canada, and Israel.

Given this worrying information:

1 What is the Commission doing to ensure that, in future, NGOs requesting funds do not have ties to terrorist organisations?

2 Will the Commission look into this matter? What steps does it intend to take?
